Pensacola State College receives over $23,000 in scholarship funds

Pensacola State College was awarded $23,365 in scholarship grants from three groups Wednesday, Sept. 5:

Florida Blue Scholarship

Florida Blue presented the college with a check for $10,600 to fund student scholarships in the areas of  Nursing and Allied Health.  Established by Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 2004 to assist in meeting the growing needs in the health care area, the dollars arematched by private donors at a local level.

The Dream Maker Scholarship

Established by Bank of America, $3887 will go to first-generation students to cover tuition, books, fees and child care.

Helios Education Foundation Scholarship

The Helios Education Foundation contributed $8878, which will be awarded to first-generation students who are preparing to become teachers in Florida.

In 2011-2012, 63 PSC students received scholarships through the three scholarship programs.  All three scholarships are endowments established through  the Florida College System Foundation.
